Migration Special

7 days / 6 nights

The great Serengeti wildebeest migration is the movement of huge numbers of wildebeest, zebra, including smaller groups of Grant’s gazelle, Thomson’s gazelle, eland, and impala across the Serengeti.

These follow an annual cycle that is very predictable. They travel throughout the year, in search of new grazing and, it is now believed, greater water quality.

The timing of the Serengeti wildebeest migration is largely determined by the annual rainfall patterns.

DAY 1

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

On arrival at Kilimanjaro international Airport, you will be met by your driver guide. A short introduction before your start your journey. Enjoy a scenic drive towards Karatu town with a stop at the Manyara view point. (if the weather is clear you will be able to see Lake Manyara).

Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Farm House or Plantation Lodge.

DAY 2

Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, set off and drive toward Ngorongoro with packed lunch. Descent into the crater to experience the majestic beauty of caldera.

The NGORONGORO CRATER, at 2286m above the sea level, is the largest unbroken caldera in the world. Surrounded by very steep walls rising 610 meters from the crater floor. It is truly a breath-taking natural wonder. Continue your drive towards Serengeti National Park. (At an additional cost paid, the driver/ guide can arrange a tour of the Maasai Village including a briefing on their culture and a few dances). Serengeti is home to over 70 larger mammals, approximately 500 different types of birds and the largest migration of land animals on the planet; more than two million mammals roam its 30,000 square kilometres.

Dinner and overnight at Kubukubu Tented Camp or Dunia Camp.

DAY 3

Serengeti National Park – Central

Full day game viewing around the Central Serengeti! The valley’s river keeps the vegetation plentiful. Wildebeest, zebras, elephants, giraffes, gazelles and many other species can be spotted here on any given day. The large amount of prey also draws the highest population of predators. The golden grassland rustles with the movement of roaming lions, cheetahs and hyenas. This is also one of the best places to find the park’s elusive leopards. You’re bound to stumble across hippos at the other Serengeti watering holes, but nothing can compare to the spectacle of the Retina Hippo Pool.

Situated where the Seronera and Orangi rivers converge, the Retina Hippo Pool consist of a deep puddle of water with roughly 200 sloshing, playing hippos. Your guide will find a spot where you can enjoy your picnic lunch.

Dinner and overnight at Kubukubu Tented Camp or Dunia Camp.

DAY 4 – 6

Serengeti National Park – Northern

Early morning breakfast, drive towards the Northern part for Serengeti. Enjoy game viewing enroute to the camp. Spend the next 2 nights game viewing along the Mara River. If you lucky you will be able to see the migration crossing.

Dinner and overnight at Mara Mara Tented Lodge or Sayari Camp.
